But, if you do, here’s a quick summary of the stories covered in the psychedelic world.
This Week's Moments:
🧠 Changing Minds:
Microdosing LSD revealed participants slept longer than the placebo group the day after the experience. Why? Scroll down to learn more.
🪡 Moving the Needle:
California and Colorado are making moves… in different directions:
Find out why below. 🤔
LSD Microdosing: Your Ticket to More Zzz's? 😴
A recent study finds microdosing with LSD might just give you a little extra shut-eye.
The study suggests that those who microdose could be sleeping nearly 24 minutes more than those on placebo—talk about hitting the snooze button.
This finding suggests that microdosing protocols might need a "rest day" between doses to ensure proper recovery.
Interestingly, while participants did report feeling a bit more tired on the day after dosing, they didn't explicitly mention needing more sleep or going to bed earlier, suggesting the extra sleep was happening on the down low.
Although 24 minutes may not seem like a lot, this still demonstrates a physiological change in the body. Perhaps the extra stimulation during microdosing LSD may cause the need to recover the day after.
This shows strong implications for sleep monitoring devices in Phase 2 trials of LSD microdosing in patients with major depressive disorder.
California Embraces Psychedelics While Colorado Cracks Down on Social Media Drug Talk 💊
Psychedelics are gaining traction in California, but social media about controlled substances is under the spotlight in Colorado.
A California Senate committee has approved a bill to legalize psychedelics service centers, allowing adults over 21 to access psilocybin, MDMA, mescaline, and DMT in a supervised setting with trained facilitators.
This bill, drafted in response to Governor Newsom's veto of a broader proposal, aims to offer a safe environment for psychedelic experiences while retaining criminal penalties for possession outside licensed facilities.
Get all the details here.
Quick little win for those in California for access to psychedelic service centers. 🥳
Meanwhile, in Colorado, the Senate passed a bill that could require social media platforms to ban users for posting positively about controlled substances, including legal psychedelics, hemp products, and even over-the-counter cough syrups.
The legislation mandates that platforms immediately remove any user promoting or advertising illicit substances.
Critics argue that this could limit discussions around even legal products and cause confusion among social media users.
What do you think?
Should you be able to post what you want on social media without any repercussions?
Perhaps tighten warnings for explicit drug content, and create settings to make it not visible for those under the age of 21.
